Ingredients

  • 2 small sweet apples 300 g total after coring; skins on, chopped
  • 1 cup whole milk 244 g, cold
  • 3/4 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt 170 g
  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats 20 g
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1.3 g
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes

Equipment

  • 1 Blender
  • 2 Serving glasses

Method

  1. Wash the apples under running water. Remove cores and seeds, leave skins on, and chop into roughly half-inch pieces. Measure 300 g prepared apple.
  2. Add milk, yogurt, oats, cinnamon, and chopped apple to the blender. Cover securely and blend for 45 to 90 seconds, until the oats and apple skins are finely broken down. Stop the machine before scraping the sides.
  3. Add ice and blend again until smooth and chilled. If needed, add cold water 1 tablespoon at a time to make it pourable. Divide evenly between two glasses and serve immediately.
  4. Refrigerate leftovers promptly in a covered container and use within 24 hours for best texture. Stir or briefly reblend before serving. Limit time out to 2 hours, or 1 hour above 90°F.

Notes

Nutrition is estimated per half batch, including apple skins. Choose plain rolled or quick oats, not dry steel-cut oats. Water added for consistency does not change the batch nutrient total.
